Srinagar, July 25 (KNO) : After weeks long scorching heat in the Valley, the people on Wednesday morning heave a sigh of relief as the heavy rainfall lashed Valley that continued for few hours. The weatherman here had predicted wet weather for the next upcoming days, informing that light to moderate rains will continue intermittently till Saturday. Meanwhile, the rainfall in this morning resulted in the inundation of city areas including business hub Lal Chowk, Batamaloo, Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Baba Demb, Khanyar, Noor Bagh, Nowhatta, Niak Bagh, Natti Pora and others. The residents of these areas told KNO that they faced immense hardships due to the water logging in their areas. They blamed the poor drainage system for the inundation of the roads, saying such a situation could have been prevented in case the drainage system would have renovated. However, the authorities started dewatering process in the morning following which the residents heave a sigh of relief. Officials told KNO that soon after the dewatering of roads, they geared up and dewatered many of the places from where they had received complaints. They said the departments concerned including the top officers were on the ground to dewater the inundated roads for smooth and hassle free movement of people. It is worth to mention here that the MeT department has predicted more rains till Saturday, saying that intermittent rains will continue to lash Valley during next few days.(KNO)
